Darryl was the first ever Gatecrasher Urban DJ after the 2008 opening of the 5 million pound super club Gatecrasher Birmingham, where Darryl is still a weekly resident. This platform has meant that since 2008 Darryl has had a minimum of 5 weekly residences a week in and around the Midlands area, thus emphasising the demand for his services. Every Wednesday evening from 9pm till midnight, Darryl has his very own weekly radio show on www.gorgeousxtra.co.uk. So not only is Darryl an accomplished DJ, but his is also an experienced radio presenter and has interviewed many artists most recently US superstars Amerie and Ace Hood and arguably the UK’s biggest rap duo Krept & Konan. Darryl’s talents however, do not stop there! Darryl has also made a name for himself as a Producer/Remixer, remixing tracks from artists such as Trey Songz & Kid Ink. His biggest success comes in the form of a mashup of UK Grime artist Temp T’s club smash ‘Next Hype’ which has had 47k plays/downloads from his Soundcloud account.
Darryl has appeared at every credible venue in the Midlands, Birmingham, Liverpool & Manchester and also spent 2 years DJing in Europe. Darryl lived in Germany for 2 years, where he appeared all over the country as far north as Hamburg all the way down to Frankfurt. He took residence in Germany’s fashion capital Düsseldorf where he had residencies at the cities most glamorous venues including Checkers Club located on the famous Königs Allee, as well as Nachtresidenz where he even supported house legend Eric Morillo. Darryl’s 2 year stint in Germany took him to Cologne, Dortmund, Neuss, Frankfurt and even across the boarder to France & Mondial Club in Holland. Darryl’s european experience is capped off with 5 successive years of appearances in the popular resort of Ayia Napa, where he played at all of the biggest venues including the famous Black & White Club, Club Ice, Castle Club, Linekers, Sin and not forgetting Ayia Napa’s hugely popular beach, pool and boat parties.
But where did it all start? Darryl’s father is a singer and has a place in the Wolverhampton Hall of Fame as one of the countries first ‘Black’ bands to ever feature of ‘Top of the Pop’s’. His father toured with UB40 in the mid 80’s and to this day is still touring as the lead singer of the famous group ‘Ottawan’ as part of the ‘Ottawan Reloaded’ reunion tour. With that in mind, it was clear at an early age that music was in Darryl’s blood! However Darryl started his DJ career relatively late at the age of 22 as a result of his pursuit of a career in professional football. Darryl played football at County level and even represented Wolverhampton Wanderers as a youth.
As well as being an established DJ and Radio Presenter, the 3rd string in Darryl's bow is his Production/Remixing abilities. On the fly live remixing and live "Mashing Up" of tracks is a style that Darryl has develpoed over many years and was the catalyst for his production/remixing persual. Darryl has remixed tracks for Artists such as, Trey Songz, Kid Ink, OMI, Robin Thicke, Tinie Tempah and Flo-Rida.

Darryl’s first set was a UK Garage set at a club called Mezzanine back in 2005 after he was working the cloakroom at the club and stepped in for a DJ that happened to cancel on the night. As a result of this unexpected DJ set Darryl became a regular warm up DJ for all the UK Garage events that took place at Mezzanine and supported the likes of EZ, So Solid, Pied Piper, Craig David, Ms. Dynamite and many more UK Garage acts! Darryl spent the next 2 years collecting R&B and Garage vinyl before he could afford his first pair of turntables. Having perfected beat matching the manual way, Darryl transitioned to CD then MP3/Laptop extremely quickly and easily!
Darryl’s DJ style is very unique in that he paints a picture for the audience through creative mixing, word play and constant crowd interaction. This makes Darryl stand out from any other DJ, so much so that many DJ's try to copy Darryl's playing style. Immitation is the sincerest form of flattery, as the saying goes! As you would expect from a radio presenter, Darryl’s microphone skills are excellent, thus creating an experience as apposed to someone just playing music. His charisma and attitude stand him apart from other DJ’s. Even with all of the experience Darryl has, he is a very humble and extremely friendly character and well respected by club managers and executives alike.
